Defender 300TDI M57-R380 kit
£2,335.00 – £2,660.00 (Excl. VAT)
Kit for swapping BMW 3.0D M57 engine. (Engine code 306D1) into Land Rover Defender 300TDI models and bolt straight up the 300TDI R380. This kit only works with the engine code listed above and best engines to source are either from a Range Rover L322 TD6 or an X5 E53 (Pre 2004 models for the X5) The engine mounts are bolt in type for the 300TDI so no welding is required. They only work with the TD6 turbo or X5 E53 type of turbo so if you get an M57 engine from another model of BMW vehicle like an E39 or E46 you will have to use the turbo from the TD6 or X5.
Kit includes the following:-
- Custom billet adaptor from M57 306D1 engine to 300TDI R380 complete with dust backing shield
- Dual mass flywheel complete with bolt kit and start ring gear
- Custom clutch kit complete with plate, cover, bolts, release bearing, pivot ball and spigot bush
- Stand-a-lone ECU service (Either outright sale or customer sends their BMW ECU for work to be carried out/exchange)
- Stand-a-lone body harness (Select if you wold like a BMW throttle pedal connector or a Defender TDCI throttle pedal connector)
- Boost pipe kit (Correct for using a TD5/TDCI radiator and intercooler pack which is recommended for the conversion)
- Universal temperature sender kit with inline adaptor
- Steering pipe kit
- Bolt in engine mount kit (No welding required, bolts straight to original 300TDI mounts)
- ECU holder
- Inline fuel pump (Select if required)
As suggested above it is recommended you use a TD5/TDCI radiator and intercooler pack. These are readily available from breakers and we suggest you need an uprated intercooler. We always us Allisport intercoolers for our in house builds.
Custom exhaust set ups are available. We have been working with Demand Engineering Ltd in Suffolk and they have exhaust systems to suit or kits. You can either order just a front exhaust adaptor pipe in 2.5 or 3″ or a full stainless system for you Defender.
This is a great kit for a simple installation, bolt in to original engine mounts and will give a very nice power upgrade to an old tired TDI engine. The clutch is only warranted to 500Nm and it will not handle large off road tyres and very aggressive driving. If you are looking for a 300-400bhp super car then it is best to go automatic. This kit is great for a fast road car set up with 200bhp and 500Nm.
